The Viking Freedom® VK488 Residential Concealed Pendent Sprinkler is a  “small orifice,” flat-plate concealed model with a K-factor of 3.0 (43). This fusible link residential sprinkler is designed for installation on concealed pipe systems where the appearance of a smooth ceiling is desired.  The Model VK488 is cULus Listed with a flow rate of only 8 GPM (30 L/min), and a pressure requirement of only 7.1 PSI (0.49 bar), in a 12 x 12 ft (3,7 x, 3,7 m) room size. With its smaller K-factor and lower Listed flow rates, the sprinkler is well-suited for 13D residential systems where the available water supply is a concern. In these systems, the VK488 could allow for reduced pipe sizes, a smaller water meter, and/or the elimination of a tank and pump. The Model VK488 is also cULus Listed for 14 x 14 ft (4.3 x 4.3 m) and 16 x 16 ft (4.9 x 4.9 m) coverage areas.
